German is taught in all year groups at the Senior School. Pupils entering Year 9 may choose from a beginners or continuers class, opting in Year 10 to continue with the language to GCSE.

German at AS and A2 levels is taught in small classes allowing students plenty of individual attention. Results at AS/A level for non-native speaker candidates for 2009 and 2010 have been over 90% ‘A’ or ‘B’.

The school has a long standing exchange with the Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium in Trier, allowing pupils a taste of life in a German school and with a German family. Pupils also attend a range of lectures, linked to their studies while there is also an emphasis on cultural learning through multi-media such as: literature, magazines, film, cinema, music and use of ICT in the target-language.
