OW Running in 2006 London Marathon
CAITLIN LIMMER (NEE GARDNER) IG 1987-1989 writes:
I am running the London Marathon on 23rd April for a charity called The Princess Alice Hospice in Esher where my father died and where I have also worked as a volunteer.
It was always a pipe dream of mine to repay the Hospice for all they did for my father but I never really believed I could do it. However, two years ago I was seriously ill and nearly lost my life and since then life has been very different. I took up running when I had recovered and it became very easy (having learnt how far my body had gone and come back being ill running now seems a doddle). I set myself goals so that one day I could achieve my little pipe dream (I am by no means a natural runner I hasten to add and with two children 4 and 2 it is sometimes quite a challenge to fit in!!) and now I'm well on my way with the training.
I'm not actually after sponsorship, I suppose I wanted to show how you can achieve something if you really want it badly enough. I have actually raised far more than they have asked for already, but obviously I'm not going to turn down any more donations.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I did love my days at Wycliffe, and I can't really say that about any other school I went to.
Kind regards
CAITLIN

New World Record for Peter Daniels 100,000m Row
Peter’s record attempt held at the Wycliffe Sculling Centre, Saul Junction on the Berkeley Canal on Saturday 4th February was a fantastic success – Peter beat his own previous record of 7hrs 54mins by a staggering 15 minutes! He started his row at 1 minute 57 seconds past 8.00am. Settling quickly into his pace he concluded seven hours thirty eight minutes later.
This was a truly epic effort. We all extend to Peter our most heartfelt congratulations on achieving this feat at the age of 66.
The OW Society has decided to keep the fund open for a further few weeks as we know many OW’s will want to participate even further in helping Peter to raise monies for Wycliffe Sculling Centre and other charities close to his heart. Donations may be sent to ‘The Old Wycliffian Society’, Wycliffe College, Stonehouse GL10 2JQ.

Observer Ethical Retailers Award 2006
Ecotopia Ltd has been shortlisted for the Observer Ethical Retailers Award alongside the likes of M&S, Traidcraft, The Co-op and Waitrose.
Steve Jones (J SH 1984-1992) set up the business almost 3 years ago. Steve’s wife, Jane and Miles Owen (J SH 1984-1990) joined him in 2004. Ecotopia grew rapidly and Lucy Siegle of The Observer wrote: "Ecotopia.co.uk are kings of environmentally sound merchandise". This helped them gain further support from environmental editors, local councils, governmental departments (including the office of the deputy prime minister) and other organisations the length and breadth of the country as well as a rapidly increasing individual customer database.
We wish them well and the results will be announced at the end of March. Further details at www.observer.co.uk/ethicalawards
