Physical Education at Wycliffe is offered both at core PE for years 9, 10, 11 and the DY Year and as an academic subject at GCSE, AS and A2 levels.

The underlying aim of Physical Education at Wycliffe is to instil in pupils a lasting and positive attitude to participation in sporting and recreational activities.  We also ensure that pupils feel confident and that they can take part, safe in the knowledge that they know how to conduct themselves in any sporting or recreational activity or club in a way which will see them as valued members of the establishment.

Effort is seen as the main criterion for praise as well as the acquisition of skills.  In order to maintain the school’s high standards, all pupils are expected to take a sense of pride in their appearance, wearing smartly the school’s P.E. uniform. The extensive range of activities, not just of a sporting nature, offer maximum opportunity in as many fields as befits the traditions and facilities of the school.

Anyone who has a keen interest in sport and is good practically, as well as wanting to learn the theoretical side, can embark on GCSE, AS and A2 level Physical Education.

These examinations are stimulating qualifications that assist pupils in variety of ways. Career paths can include an extremely wide range of university sports courses or can simply assist in university entries for any other subject.
