Plans were given the go-ahead by Wycliffe trustees for major works at the College over the next few years. With buoyant pupil numbers this year, confidence is high at the Stonehouse school.
Work completed at the Prep School so far includes the Year 8 centre with state-of-the-art classrooms and common room, the Reception, Years 1 and 2 classrooms with dedicated play area, the exciting new boarding facilities offering sixteen more beds, a spacious kitchen and common room, a large games room and house assistant’s flat.
At the Senior School work has commenced on the phased refurbishment of the Science Block, with the first of the new style laboratories completed. Work also began in September on the extension and upgrade of Lampeter house, which will include an additional 26 beds, common room, laundry, matron’s office and house assistant’s accommodation.
At the start of the Summer Term 2010, Year 8 moved into a brand new facility, with very spacious classrooms and a large bright common room which the pupils designed themselves.
Years 3 and 4 also moved into fully refurbished classrooms and are now located at the heart of the school in the main building, Ryeford Hall, adjacent to the library, cloackrooms and ICT suite.
In September 2010, Reception, Years 1 and 2 relocated to a purpose built facility on the Ryeford site. The facilities include light, state-of-the-art classrooms, library and a extensive free-flow play areas outside. The pupils are fully integrated into the school, having full access to the dining room, theatre, performing arts centre, ICT suites and sports facilities.
