Pupil Profile

My name is Mega Ofodum. I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. After my secondary education I decided that I wanted to further my education in an area with a wider range of facilities and
technological advancement, which is why I chose to come and school in England.

I began searching for sixth form schools despite applying quite late, the staff worked with me to find a programme that suited my ambitions and abilties. I came to Wycliffe and I was accepted without any problems. I quickly adapted to my surroundings and began participating in some of the many activities available in my school. For example I sing in the bass section of the school’s choir.

The students are a mix of international and British citizens. All of which are very warm and welcoming. The beautiful grounds and modernized buildings give the college a bright and eco-friendly look. Being in such a comfortable place I was able to be myself and grow physically and emotionally. This helped me to achieve things I never thought I would have in the past. Currently in the upper sixth, I have roles of responsibility such as a school prefect and the head of my boarding house.

The opportunity given here for sports is remarkable as you could be in a school team as there are places in teams for all abilities. Even if you are not the best at the sport. Even though I have only played rugby for one year I now have a position in the schools rugby team. The sports facilities in the school give you the chance to improve your fitness and ensure you remain healthy while giving you the opportunity to take part in big competitions.

I aspire to become a pharmacist in future so as to improve health care in Nigeria. The subjects I do are biology, physics and chemistry. As challenging as these subjects are, the support given by the staff of Wycliffe College make it easier by providing a safe and organised environment for learning.

Teachers are always available and pay special attention to each student to ensure everyone understands the topic. This helped me out when I missed 6 weeks of school and with assistance was able to catch up with my studies.

I believe coming to school in the UK has opened a lot of doors for my future and Wycliffe has played a big role in ensuring I have the best education that is available.
