Rowing was established at Wycliffe soon after the foundation of the school in 1882. Over the last thirty years, the school boat club has enjoyed unprecedented success with wins at the National Schools' Regatta, the Schools' Head, the National Rowing Championships and Henley.

Wycliffe has produced athletes who have gone on to compete for Great Britain at junior and senior level.

Since 1935, the boathouse has been situated on the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal with around 30km of still training water. It is recognised as one of the best places to train in the country.

To complement water training, rowers also have access to a quality fitness suite, based in the sports centre at the Senior School.

For athletes wishing to be successful at national level and beyond, individual training programmes are written and one-on-one coaching sessions are timetabled to ensure each athlete has the opportunity to reach his or her maximum potential.
