Pupil Profile

I came to Wycliffe for sixth form and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have never been happier at school. At Wycliffe you can be yourself and everyone is accepted for who they are.

There is far less peer pressure to conform than I had experienced before, there is no arrogance and no cliques. Instead there are a range of great people of all abilities and backgrounds and I was made really welcome from the very start.

I had previously been at another well-known private school in the region. I was academically successful; I got nearly all A and A* grades at GCSE but frankly I was pretty miserable there.

At Wycliffe I still enjoy academic success but it has been a much happier experience. I feel encouraged and supported by staff and now I have an outstanding offer to study on the course of my choice at a top University.

At Wycliffe, the students take the lead in all sorts of events and competitions throughout the year. This has encouraged me to take on things I might not have done before such as taking roles in assemblies and services in front of the whole school; I have performed on stage in front of parents guests and students; I have made presentations to huge groups of strangers and new students on Open Days; I have become a prefect, supervising and helping other students in work and around the campus and I have represented the school at rugby and football.

I even stood alone in front of the entire school and launched a brand new charity. Now I am spending my Gap Year developing this charity – a link with a remote community in Nepal - and the school has adopted it as its main international cause.

Coming to Wycliffe has been the best academic choice I have made giving me two of the most enjoyable years in my life.
