Pupil ProfileWycliffe is a place of opportunities. It only looks like an ordinary school, but it is actually a lot more than that.Wycliffe is one big family. When I was told that I would be going to study in the UK, I was really upset and did not want to leave my home. However, when I arrived at Wycliffe I received so much support and attention from the staff, that I was happy to give it a try. Of course, in the beginning you miss your family and friends, but as the time passes you make new friends and get to know people from different nationalities, different cultures and actually you get to learn something from them. The choice to study abroad wasn’t mine, my parents decided that for me, for which I’m now thankful. They have given me an opportunity to be a better person, as back in Latvia I had difficulties with studies and I didn’t quite have the motivation to do better. But the support I now have from my teachers is incredible. There is no other school where I would actually get as much help as I do here at Wycliffe. Before I came to Wycliffe I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future, I had almost no interest in any of my subjects. I am now taking 4 A levels and have certain targets for my life; I am studying subjects that I never dreamed I would, such as Business Studies and Japanese which I am finding very interesting and I not sure this would have been the case without the encouragement from my teachers. I admit that studying is a hard job and requires a lot of energy, nevertheless we have rewards such as parties and trips to various places, which are a lot of fun and enjoyment and also gives us a chance to relax and have fun with friends. I would definitely recommend going to boarding school to study, as my own experience has been so positive and life changing! |
