At Wycliffe Preparatory School, we believe in developing all our young people so that they realise their fullest potential, whatever their ability. As well as our excellent provision for those with special educational needs, we also provide first-rate opportunities for those who are especially gifted or talented. We maintain a register of all those who have exceptional aptitudes or skills in any capacity: academic, sporting, creative or otherwise. Staff are trained in teaching the most able and ensure that each pupil is working to the very best of his or her ability.
Teachers plan lessons that extend and stretch the most able in the classroom. Special resources are provided for independent research and, where appropriate, students are offered the opportunity to attend conferences and events for gifted and talented students around the country. A number of our students are members of the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth, through which they may enjoy peer support from others with special aptitudes. If you would like to know more abut our policies and practices for more able pupils, please contact Mrs Ginny Jackson, Deputy Head.
