Simon studied Estate Management at Reading University following which he joined a surveying practice in Birmingham, Edwards, Bigwood and Bewlay. In 1981, Simon qualified as a Chartered Surveyor, and is still working in the same area of business over 30 years later. Now working at DTZ, he is a Senior Director responsible for the industrial and logistics part of the business in the UK. He has also been responsible for the EMEA region which involved a substantial amount of international travel to the EMEA region, the USA and Asia. He has spoken at a number of conferences in all three geographies and has recently run a series of seminars across the UK.
Outside of work, Simon married Stephanie Cartwright in 1984 (a former Wycliffe pupil) and they have two children. At Wycliffe, Simon was involved in the musical aspects of the school, playing the clarinet and also rowing. Although Simon has not played the clarinet for some years and no longer rows, he is a keen tennis player. Simon helped organise the Midlands gatherings of the OW Society for a number of years, managing to attract a crowd of over 60 in one year.
