Robin (OW – Springfield 1969-1974) became a Trustee of the Wycliffe Council in early 2008, is Chairman of Trustees and member of the Wycliffe Foundation. Wycliffe runs through his family; he is a second generation Wycliffian and his youngest son was the 7th Bacon at Wycliffe.
Robin served in the British Army from 1978 to 2010. His early military background was primarily in operational logistics during the Cold War. After the first Gulf War, he commanded a Hong Kong Chinese logistic unit then in 1995 deployed to Angola with the United Nations. In 1996 he took command of 3 Close Support Regiment RLC and deployed to Bosnia as part of the NATO stabilisation force in 1997. Prior to leaving the Army in 2010, he held a number of senior MOD appointments, including being the MOD’s Service Personnel Strategy Director. He was awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service.
Since 2010, Robin has been the Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity based in London, operating worldwide. He has considerable experience in corporate governance, data compliance, corporate partnerships and HR management in particular. Robin is a graduate of the Army Staff College, a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a Fellow of the CMI and has an MBA. Amongst his other responsibilities, he is Chairman of Trustees of the Hong Kong Locally Enlisted Personnel Trust – necessitating annual visits to Hong Kong, and is also the Non-Executive Chairman of a social enterprise community interest company.
