This was the first time in my career that I was not here for the first two days of term as I was away at the ISI Reporting Inspectors’ Conference in not so sunny Birmingham. The term has started so well that I am beginning to think I should go away more often! We have already had a huge amount going on including a visit from ‘Explorer Dome’ to entertain the children in Lower Prep and enlighten them about things scientific. On Wednesday we fielded over twenty teams in football and netball and it was wonderful to see so many children thoroughly enjoying an afternoon of sport – even though it was freezing cold.

Last Friday we woke up to the wonderful prospect of snow ball fight but sadly for the children all the snow had disappeared by break time.

We have had four of our boys selected for the South West England football squad and one of our squash players was runner-up in what was effectively the world championship for his age. Today we have a large number of boys and girls visiting the school competing for sports scholarships for entry into Year 7 in September which is very exciting for us all. Interest in joining the school in Year 7 for September is continuing to grow. Next week we have our annual 11+ Music scholarships taking place.

Also this afternoon, our Years 5 and 6 scientists are performing in the next round of the Schools’ Science quiz at Llandaff.

Exeat is looming very shortly and we can all have a good rest for a couple of days to recharge the batteries for the run up to half term.
