The Nursery Class sessions are based around educational content, set in a play led context and environment.
The children start their daily routine with a topic session led by The Nursery Class teacher. We have a termly topic from which we base our learning around.
The Teacher highlights a key concept using music or a story. We explain to the children the activities we have set up for them to explore at the different activity stations. The fun-filled activities cover each area of learning including science and discovery, language and literacy, numeracy, shapes and numbers, role play, and outdoor and indoor games. The children are then free to explore the different activities and flow freely between them all.
Our literacy and number areas are available for the children to explore throughout the day. We use a range of materials to promote literacy and numeracy in a fun and interesting way. We observe what the children like playing with and adapt our approach accordingly.
We use a range of materials and activities to stimulate children’s senses. We believe that by providing this type of activity children will learn more about the world around them in a natural way through sight, sound, smell, taste or touch. We have outside play areas to enable movement between indoors and outdoors.
