The Nursery is open for 46 weeks of the year from 8am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.
Children can attend the Nursery for morning or afternoon sessions or full days:
Morning session – 8.00am – 1.00pm
Afternoon session – 1.00pm – 5.30pm
We recommend that Lower Nursery children attend for a minimum of 4 sessions per week, enabling them to develop secure relationships and build foundations for learning and development. We recommend that Upper Nursery children attend for a minimum of 6 sessions per week, supporting their preparation for school entry the following year.
Children can arrive at any time between 8.00am – 9.00am
If children are dropped off before 8.30am, then they may bring breakfast if required.
Pick-up time is between 3.30pm – 5.30pm.
Children staying after 4.30pm will be provided with a snack tea.
Children in our Nursery have weekly timetabled Music, Dance, Swimming and French lessons from specialist teachers in their subjects, as well as their numeracy and literacy. This dedicated time to these areas at such an early time in the child’s life sets them up for when they start in Reception.
At Wycliffe Nursery we value the learning opportunities that are available to children when they use outdoor areas. Whenever possible the curriculum is structured to enable the children to benefit from these experiences. In addition to communal Nursery playgrounds, school fields, woodland and growing beds each Nursery class has its own outdoor learning area enabling free flow between indoors and outside.
Our aim is to spend an average of half of each session in one of our outside areas.
Beginning in Autumn 2019, our Nursery will provide Forest School Sessions for pupils. For more information on Forest School please click here to read about our current Forest School for Pre-Prep children.
