Children need space to be heard and known as individuals. Our Middle Prep School aims to nurture independence and lays the educational foundations needed before children move on to our Upper Prep School in Year 6. Small class sizes – up to 18 per class – allow pupils to thrive from extensive individualised attention. Nestled in the centre of our stunning countryside campus, Years 3, 4 and 5 have their classrooms, own ICT Suite and Library in Ryeford Hall, built in the 1800s. This provides the ideal setting for pupils to learn and develop; both inside and outside the classroom.
English and Maths are taught every day and are a key focus throughout the three years. Computing, Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities, Science, Music, Art and Drama are taught weekly, and Games or PE is timetabled every day, except for Thursday when a separate activities programme takes place.
Sport is inclusive and children are encouraged to try new things, where their willingness to have a go is celebrated. We understand the crucial role sports plays in ensuring children stay active and healthy while having a positive impact on pupil’s well-being. Our main Sports are Hockey, Netball and Cricket for girls, and Rugby, Football and Cricket for boys. Pupils also enjoy Swimming in our on-site pool, Athletics, Tennis, Squash and Cross-Country. Take a look at the sports Wycliffe offer in a little bit more detail.
At Wycliffe, one of key aims is to inspire creativity and allow children to express themselves. We offer weekly lessons in Drama, Arts and Music; encouraging our pupils to explore their imaginative and artistic side. Our facilities include a bespoke theatre with tiered seating; perfect for performances while dedicated music rooms allow children to hone their skills; and our high-ceilinged Art rooms have their own kiln and art equipment .
For Years 3 to 5, every Thursday afternoon pupils participate in an activity chosen from a wide choice from Chess to Sewing, to Netball, to Eco-Warriors, to Art, to Debating to Robotics and many others. This allows pupils to socialise with others whilst encouraging them to try new things outside their comfort zone. In addition, there are weekly lunchtime and after school clubs, such as Ballet, Judo, Fencing, Cricket and the Choir.
We are proud of the pastoral care we offer at Wycliffe. We ensure every child is well supported and happy during their time at Wycliffe as we work hard to ensure that each pupil maintains a positive mental well-being.
