Children need space to he heard and known as individuals. Small class sizes – up to 18 per class – allow pupils to thrive from extensive individual attention.
Years 3, 4 and 5 have their classrooms in Ryeford Hall, nestled in the centre of our campus.
Registration starts at 8.15am, and children can be dropped off from 8.00am in our Dining Hall for Breakfast Club. Lunch is an hour long, and year groups have lunch at staggered sittings, starting from 12.00pm for Years 3 and 4. In three out of five afternoons during the week, pupils take part in a physical activity as part of our Games programme, in addition to the PE and swimming curriculum. The day ends at 4.30pm, although children can stay for supervised homework sessions until 5.30pm.
English and Maths are taught every day and are a key focus throughout the three years. Computing, Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities, Science, Music, Art and Drama are taught weekly, and Games or PE is timetabled every day, except for Thursday when a separate activities programme takes place.
For Years 3 to 5, every Thursday afternoon pupils participate in an activity chosen from a wide choice from Chess to Sewing, to Netball, to Eco-Warriors, to Art, to Debating and many others. In addition, there are weekly lunchtime and after school clubs, such as Ballet, Judo, Fencing, Cricket and the Choir.
Sport is inclusive and children are encouraged to try new things, where their willingness to have a go is celebrated. The main Sports are Hockey, Netball and Cricket for girls, and Rugby, Football and Cricket for boys. Pupils also enjoy Swimming in our on-site pool, Athletics, Tennis, Squash and Cross-Country.
