Design Technology is a brilliantly unique subject because it encourages pupils to look to the future and create unique and innovative pieces of work.
“DT inspires young people to go into industry as designers, but also, it inspires creativity and – perhaps most importantly – encourages them to work out their own answers to problems. It gives them vital life skills, whether they go on to become engineers or not.” James Dyson
Design Technology at Wycliffe is focused on Product Design with pupils at both GCSE and A Level being able to select from either a Resistant Materials or Graphic Products pathway. Pupils have the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the professional world of design and manufacturing with trips to museums and industry level businesses.
With large well equipped workshops, state of the art ICT facilities featuring Solidworks design software, laser cutting, 3D modelling, CNC routing and sublimation printing, Wycliffe has everything pupils need to show enterprise and ingenuity, and to create fantastically creative pieces of work.
Pupils have gone on to read DT related degrees at The Arts University Bournemouth, University College London and University of Bath.
