Sociology is the scientific study of human life, social groups, whole societies and the human world as it is. Exploring and examining why it is humans do what they do.

It is an interesting, dynamic and challenging course to study at A Level. Opening up a vast amount of opportunities and career paths if pupils wish to read this at degree level.

Our aim is for pupils to challenge assumptions about the social world we live in. In the twenty-first century we live in a world of extraordinary promise for the future but this sits alongside rapid change, deep conflicts and social divisions. We study a range of topics including crime, poverty, media and the family. As sociologists we study the big picture of our place in society and how we can explain and help to shape the world we live in, for the better.
