Lisa Wisbey was a games maker at the London 2012 Olympic Games providing Spanish language assistance to the Spanish speaking Basketball teams and looking after VIP guests.
Spanish is taught in all year groups at the Senior School. Pupils entering Year 9 may choose from a beginners or continuers class, opting in year 10 to continue with the language to GCSE.
Pupils studying Spanish benefit from a specialist teacher and small class sizes, allowing the Teacher to adapt to the needs of each individual and ensuring the pupil gets all of the attention and resources they need to succeed.
Our Spanish assistant takes pupils in pairs (lower school) or one to one (sixth form) for Spanish speaking lessons which really helps enhance pupils’ speaking knowledge.
The school offers a unique language experience at a centre in Southern Spain where pupils take part in a week of intensive language lessons and cultural-activities which include cookery lessons, city visits, beach games and water sports in target language and more.
Pupils also attend a range of lectures linked to their studies whilst there is also an emphasis on cultural learning through multi-media such as: literature, magazines, film, cinema, music and use of ICT in the target-language.
