There is much collaboration between the Careers Department & subject leaders/Heads of Departments.  Careers staff benefit from understanding what knowledge & skills students are acquiring in the curriculum that equips them for HE &/or the workplace.  Teachers & students benefit from understanding what careers are linked to their subject & how subject-specific skills can be applied in the workplace or at university.  Whilst this happens to be a key benchmark in The Gatsby Report (2014) (Linking Careers to the Curriculum) our size & friendly nature enables us to interact regularly when it comes to individual student support and careers-related trips/events.  Wycliffe’s location is central to several leading universities, facilitating regular university trips – another key Gatsby Benchmark (Encounters with Higher Education).  The following are just some of the events/trips where we learn from/ support each other:

Maths & Science – Wycliffe STEM Day, Oxford & Birmingham University trips, ‘GCSE Live’ at Bristol/ Birmingham Universities, Science competitions at Bristol University

English – Warwick University trip, debating competitions

Modern Foreign Languages – ‘English is not Enough’ event (talks by business leaders on the value of foreign languages in their job role).  International Fair evening – a cultural awareness event, celebrating our international students and their home countries

History – Annual History Lecture given to Wycliffe students by an eminent historian

Sport – Loughborough, University of South Wales, Bath University trips

Business Studies – Young Enterprise Company, Young Dragons Business Challenge, Jaguar Land Rover visit
