The objectives of this policy are to provide fully traceable products within an approved supply chain, to buy British produce by working in partnership with local and regional farmers and growers and where possible, to support ‘Fairtrade’ farmers and their communities. To this end, 95% of all seasonal vegetables served come direct from British growers; they support 82 British dairy farmers and only use Lion quality British eggs, the fresh fish comes from sustainable and well managed marine sources, the bananas are ‘Fairtrade’ and 30% of produce is transported by vehicles that run on Biodiesel!
