On Exeat Sunday, a select group of Year 7 & 8 boys took part in the IAPS South-West 6 aside Football Regional Finals at Kings College Taunton. Having been given a testing first fixture against Port Regis, Wycliffe put in an excellent performance. Built upon a solid defence with Tommy Rowland in goal and marshalled by Luke Davison, Wycliffe played some excellent attacking football in a 3-1 victory, with goals from brothers Myles and Max Marklove. Having been asked to play four games back to back, there was no time for a break as they took on King’s Hall. The boys continued to play their attacking brand of football, with a decisive 3-0 victory following further goals from Myles and Max Marklove, and captain Freddie Searle. The boys continued their good form in the following fixture against St Peter’s, running out 3-1 winners with two goals for Oliver Leonard and one for Jaime Sanchez Martin. The fourth fixture saw Wycliffe play Forres Sandle Manor, in which we continued to dominate the play, albeit with tiring legs. George Rowlands gave Wycliffe the lead, but an unfortunate own goal levelled the tie to finish at 1-1. The final fixture was against Millfield, in what was a winner takes all match. Unfortunately it was a game too far for the boys who went behind 3-0 shortly into the second half, but showed great character in bouncing back, and finished the game positively through a goal from Jaime Sanchez Martin. The boys can be very proud of their achievements, in which they returned home as South West runners-up.
