David M Webber

J SH 1940 - 1949

We have received sad news that David M Webber passed away at his home in Cardiff on 10 January, aged 89.

He continued to take a strong interest in the school throughout his life and maintained close friendships from his schooldays with other old boys. He is succeeded by his wife, Ann, and daughters Catherine Colston and Helen Brock.

His funeral will be on 1 February but, sadly, Covid rules mean it must be a family affair, although there may be a memorial service later in the year if circumstances permit.

We were lucky that David was able to come back to Wycliffe for our Lampeter Lunch in November 2019. He talked warmly of his school days and time at Lampeter and gave a toast of thanks at the end of the lunch on behalf of his contemporaries. He was also a Governor of the school until 2006 and donated generously to the school over the years, we are most grateful for his support.

Following Wycliffe, he became a Barrister. He was also Vice President/Trustee of Glamorgan Wanderers RFC; Former Church Warden, a member of Cardiff County Club, as well as Cardiff Golf Club. He enjoyed music, walking, gardening and sport.

Our deepest sympathies to his wife and family and all who knew him well.

His Old Order Changeth in Wycliffe Star 1949 reads:
