After competing in the Regional rounds of the IAPs Hockey at Millfield last week, the Wycliffe U12 Hockey girls finished in an amazing 5th place in the National IAPS Finals held at Clifton on Monday 14th November.
In a tough group, the team drew matches against Foremarke Hall 1-1 and St Faith’s 0-0. They then went on to play some wonderful Hockey to beat Dumpton 2-1, the same score as in the Regional rounds. The final game in their group stage was against a strong team from Hurstpierpoint, eventually losing 3-0.
This placed Wycliffe 3rd in their group, and a play-off match against Stonyhurst for 5th or 6th position. This game was won 2-0 and a 5th place finish in the National finals was secured.
The girls played some fantastic hockey throughout the day, having to work hard to defend but also attack as team. They were able to link play and transfer the ball, putting into practice what they had been working on in training.
They should all be very proud of their achievement. They played some outstanding hockey and the squad were excellent representatives of their school.
We are incredibly proud of all of them. Well done!
