The following has been sent to us by David’s brother, OW Michael Foster (SH 1966 – 1970):

David was born on Christmas Eve in 1948, and grew up in the family home on Victoria Road in Penarth.

David attended Wycliffe School from 1962 to 1966.After completing his schooling, David chose to follow in his parents’ footsteps by pursuing a career in Medicine. He enrolled in Cardiff Medical School, focusing his studies on Radiology.

David and his wife moved to Sheffield where he continued his training in the Royal Hospital, before returning to South Wales.

In 1980 David secured a Consultant Radiologist position in the Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia and the family moved there.

In 1982 David accepted a Consultant Radiologist position at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend where he worked for 35 years until his retirement.

David dedicated his life to both his family and his profession. With over 40 years working in the NHS, his commitment was exceptional. He consistently went above and beyond to assist not only patients but also family and friends whenever possible.

David enjoyed watching many sports, athletics, rugby but his lifelong passions was his tennis.  He began playing in his teenage years at Wycliffe. He had many proud tennis achievements, securing the club singles championships eight times in his local club, where he was Vice President.

In 2019, during his retirement, he took on a fulfilling role as a dedicated committee member on Tennis Wales, and found great joy in contributing to the tennis community.

Sadly, in 2022, his wife Ruth passed away after a short illness. Dave displayed unwavering dedication in caring for Ruth. He leaves his three children and four grandchildren who will miss him very much.
