Nigel J. Cartwright

J SH 1965 - 1972

Word has reached us of the sad news that Nigel Cartwright passed away on 25th August 2021. He was aged 67. Our thoughts and best wishes go to his family and those who knew him well.

While at Wycliffe Nigel was President of The Literary Society and a House Monitor. He played rugby in the 1st XV and rowed for the 1st VIII, as well as being a member of Science, Orchestra and Music clubs.

Nigel’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday 15th  September 2021 at St Luke’s Church, Milland, at 3pm with refreshments afterwards at the family’s house ‘Crofters’. The family hope that those that knew Nigel at Wycliffe will be able to join them on the day to celebrate his life. There will be a private cremation and interment in the days following the funeral.

Church address: Saint Luke’s Church Milland, Liphook, GU30 7JL (located off the south side of the B2070 between Liphook and Rake)

Crofters address: Crofters, Queens Corner, Iping, Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 0PL

Directions to Crofters: If you are following a ‘satnav’ please note that the postcode may take you too far up our road. Having turned off Iping Road for Queens Corner, continue along the road for about 0.4 miles and the drive is on the right hand side, opposite the red post box. There should be ample parking in the field opposite the house.

Nigel suffered from Pulmonary Veno-Occlusive Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension, both rare lung diseases. He received wonderful palliative care and support during his illness from Macmillan. It was Nigel’s wish that donations, if desired, are made to charity in lieu of flowers – to aid with this a charitable donations page has been set up for Macmillan and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK and a link for this is here: https://memorygiving.com
