Caroline graduated from Aberdeen University with an MA in Geography with Economics. She spent the first 15 years of her working life in retail management holding operational management roles to Operations Director level with Habitat Designs Ltd and Maples plc. With Habitat she worked on store openings and with both retailers she was involved in several change management programmes.
For 10 years Caroline worked for the Appointment Commission acting as an independent assessor on appointment panels for non-executive directors. Caroline has spent the last 16 years working in the voluntary sector. Until March 2012 Caroline worked for Common Purpose a leadership development organisation working across all sectors. During her last nine months with Common Purpose Caroline led their work with the NHS developing the role of clinical commissioning groups. From March 2012 to October 2015 Caroline was CEO of Quartet Community Foundation (QCF) working in Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. QCF works to match donors with local charities and organisations supporting the causes they care about and helping many of the most disadvantaged in our Society. Since October 2015 Caroline took on the role of Treasurer of The Society of Merchant Venturers in Bristol. The Society works in three key areas of education, care for the elderly and social investment.
Caroline is a Deputy Lieutenant for Gloucestershire and a Governor of Colston School, Colston Girls School Trust and Merchants Academy in Bristol. Both her children attended Wycliffe Preparatory School and her son attended the Senior School until he completed his GCSE’s.
