Reaching their true potential through Sport

Pupils develop their level of physical performance through regular PE lessons, Games sessions and Extra-curricular activities. With the benefit of expert teaching and coaching, pupils improve their stamina and technique and often take part in inter school matches and competitions. Pupils in all sports and activities are encouraged to reach their true potential. In 2020, Wycliffe was ranked 28th for Sport amongst all Independent Schools in School Sport magazine.

Scholarships in Sport are offered for 13+ and in the Sixth Form.

Mainstream Sport

The teaching of Sport changes each Term:

  • Autumn Term – boys play Rugby and girls play Hockey
  • Spring Term – girls play Netball and boys play Football
  • Summer Term – boys and girls play Tennis and Cricket and take part in Athletics.

Wycliffe Advanced Sports Programme

Pupils who excel in one or more sports, may be invited to join WASP (Wycliffe Advanced Sports Programme) which is for athletes who are performing at a high level and would benefit from extra coaching and nutritional, conditioning and toning advice.

House Competitions

As a member of one of the eight School Houses, pupils take part in termly sporting competitions, such as House Cross Country and Sports Day.
