Scholarships and Bursaries at Wycliffe

Scholarships are awarded to the best applicants in their fields at two points in the academic year. Wycliffe Scholars benefit not only from a proportionate discount off the fees but also from the kudos of being recognised and celebrated for their ability, and from various programmes to support their time at Wycliffe. A successful Scholar will be a leader in their chosen field of expertise and a good role model during their time at Wycliffe.

We encourage and welcome scholarship applications from international pupils. Special arrangements are made if the pupil is unable to attend the assessments due to travel restrictions.

Current Wycliffe pupils who hold previous scholarship awards can apply for further scholarships in their chosen strengths. Scholarships are held for the duration of a pupil’s time in the Senior School, provided his or her conduct is satisfactory and his or her level of work and commitment is in line with the expectations of a Scholar.

13+ Scholarships

13+ Scholarship Assessments take place over one week in both September and January, except for the Sport Scholarships which are only available in the October. Applicants take part in the Scholarship Assessments when they are in Year 8 and they can apply for either one Assessment or both. Pupils can also apply for more than one Scholarship. Notification if an applicant has been successful or not, is sent by post within a few days at the end of the Scholarship Assessment week.

13+ Scholarships (taken in Year 8 for entry into Year 9) are a recognition of achievements and an appreciation of potential. Wycliffe 13+ Scholarships are awarded for:

  • Academic excellence
  • Art
  • Design Technology
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Sport

Sixth Form Scholarships

Sixth Form Scholarship Assessments are in the October and March of an academic year. However, application and assessment for a Sport Scholarship is only available in the October. Year 11 or Development Year pupils may apply for a Scholarship in one of the Scholarship Assessments or both; and they may also apply for more than one Scholarship. Applicants will be notified if they have been successful or not by post within a few days at the end of the assessment week.

Sixth Form Scholarships (taken in Year 11 or the Development Year for entry into Year 12) are a recognition of excellence and commitment. Wycliffe Sixth Form Scholarships are awarded for:

  • Academic excellence
  • All-rounder (awarded to candidates who show how they would make a significant contribution across several areas of School life)
  • Art
  • Design Technology
  • Drama
  • Modern Languages
  • Music
  • Sport

Bursaries

We have recently revised our bursary policy and they will now be awarded to pupils who are looking for places in our Year 7 and above. Bursaries will only be awarded in exceptional circumstances to those who would most benefit from a Wycliffe education but whose means make it impossible to afford. If you feel that your family would qualify for a ‘transformational bursary’ then please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Admissions Managers, Briony and Fiona on briony.armstrong@wycliffe.co.uk (for Year 7 and 8 enquiries) or fiona.lawson-best@wycliffe.co.uk (for Year 9 and above).
