“Excellent advice and support are given to pupils regarding future careers through the careers department, the life skills (personal, social, health and economic education) programme and the tutorial system.” – ISI Report 2016
Careers education and guidance is delivered at Wycliffe through the Careers Department, as well as through a comprehensive Life Skills and the tutorial programme. The aim is to enable pupils to access up-to-date impartial advice and guidance, needed in order to make well-informed decisions that will help them achieve their full potential.
Pupils in Years 9 – 13 are offered guidance and support by the Careers manager, who is professionally trained in Careers Guidance (Dip CG).They are encouraged to use the Careers library in school and resources available on the intranet as well as the vast range of resources on the internet. Pupils also have access to interactive careers programmes such as Kudos. All pupils are provided with a summary of guidance following the careers interview. The Careers Manager is also available at parents’ evenings.
Work-related skills are developed through work experience undertaken at the end of Year 11, along with employer mock interviews and enterprise activities. The Careers department has also fostered links with employers and Gloucester EBP.
