Meet the House Parent – Dr Edward Taylor

I joined Wycliffe College with my wife Hilary and our daughters, Romilly and Jemima. After completing my Physics and Space Technology Master’s degree and later earning a PhD in Space Robotics, I moved to London to work as a quant developer in a hedge fund. I later retrained as a teacher, and my first teaching position was at Rugby School, where I also served as an Assistant Housemaster. In 2016, our family moved to Vancouver Island, where I took up a teaching role at Shawnigan Lake School, teaching computer science and physics, and coaching competitive robotics teams to the World Championships. There, I became the first Housemaster of the Grade 8 (Year 9) boys’ house and later helped design and run Canada’s first co-ed boarding house. At Wycliffe, as well as being the new Housemaster of Robinson House, I am the Head of Computer Science, teaching GCSE and A-Level physics, and coaching sport.
