According to a recent Sunday Times Guide, Stroud has been ranked as the best place to live in the UK. Voted for by a panel of experts who use a range of measures to rank the best towns in England, Stroud has come out on top.

Measures include assessing local amenities and facilities on offer, education, access to services such as high speed internet, air quality, community spirt and culture. The criteria for judging has changed slightly since the pandemic, focusing on towns and cities that were ‘big enough to have everything you need in walking distance and small enough for everyone to feel connected.’ In the past, slightly bigger places such as Bristol and York have been recognised as the best places to live however with the pandemic and the changes in working and home life, the judges thought it was appropriate to focus on ‘community, countryside and convenience,’ to reflect what is going on in the world right now.

More information on the winners and who else did well in the guide can be found on The Times website.
