Scholarships are awarded to the best applicants in their fields.

Wycliffe Scholars benefit not only from a proportionate discount off the fees but also from the kudos of being recognised and celebrated for their ability, and from various programmes to support their time at Wycliffe. A successful Scholar will be a leader in their chosen field of expertise and a good role model during their time at Wycliffe.

Making Your Application

We encourage and welcome scholarship applications from external and International pupils. Special arrangements are made if the pupil is unable to attend the assessments.

Current Wycliffe pupils who hold previous scholarship awards can apply for further scholarships in their chosen strengths. Scholarships are held for the duration of a pupil’s time in the Senior School, provided their conduct is satisfactory and their level of work and commitment is in line with the expectations of a Scholar.

11+ (Year 7) Scholarships

Being an 11+ Scholar is a great honour. It demonstrates the pupil has the desire and motivation to continually learn, to push their boundaries, to be curious and passionate about their chosen subjects.
Each scholarship will be awarded based on a comprehensive selection process that assesses the pupil’s current achievements and potential for future growth.

Our scholarship programme for entry into Year 7 in September 2025 aims to identify and nurture exceptional talent in three key areas:

  • Academics
  • Art
  • Drama

The selection process will take place during the Summer Term 2025.

13+ (Year 9) Scholarships

13+ (Year 9) Scholarship Assessments take place over one week in October and January. Applicants take part in the Scholarship Assessments when they are in Year 8. Pupils can apply for more than one Scholarship. Notification if an applicant has been successful or not is sent by email within two weeks at the end of the Scholarship Assessment Week.

Please note that the next round of 13+ scholarships will take place in the Autumn term 2025.

13+ Scholarships (taken in Year 8 for entry into Year 9) are a recognition of achievements and an appreciation of potential. Wycliffe 13+ Scholarships are awarded for:

16+ (Sixth Form) Scholarships

16+ (Sixth Form) Scholarship Assessments are in the October and March of an academic year. Year 11 or Development Year pupils may apply for a Scholarship in one of the Scholarship Assessments or both; and they may also apply for more than one Scholarship. Applicants will be notified if they have been successful or not by email within two weeks at the end of the Assessment Week.

16+ (Sixth Form Scholarships) are a recognition of excellence and commitment. Wycliffe Sixth Form Scholarships are awarded for:

Wycliffian Futures Awards

The newly introduced Wycliffe Futures Awards are available to pupils wishing to join the Sixth Form, and offer up to 50% fee remissions for those who meet the criteria.

The programme is designed to open doors for young people who currently attend a state sector secondary school who demonstrate outstanding academic potential, all-round ability, and who want to make the most of every opportunity and, in doing so, have a positive impact on those around them.

Mr Christian San José, Headmaster of Wycliffe College, said: “When I joined Wycliffe, I made it clear that our connection to the local community is one of our greatest strengths. We are proud to be a school for local pupils, and this new initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing and developing talent close to home.

“We’ve been actively exploring ways to improve access to local families, offering them the opportunity to study here in Sixth Form and to join our community regardless of their financial circumstances. By expanding our awards programme, we hope to support more families who value the wonderful opportunities a Wycliffe education can offer”.

The new awards are:

  • Sibly Award for Academic Excellence: open to 16+ A level studies (Four awards available)
  • Wycliffian Award for All-Round Ability: for pupils joining Sixth Form demonstrating exceptional all-round ability (Four awards available)
  • The San José (Headmaster’s) Transformational Award: Headmaster’s award for candidates considered to be ‘intellectually curious’, engaging, creative and resilient, and for whom a Wycliffe Sixth Form education would be transformational (Two awards available)

All awards are means-tested and are open exclusively to new pupils who are not currently attending an independent school wishing to join Sixth Form.

Candidates should apply via application for one of the 16+ scholarships listed above. Or by contacting admissions@wycliffe.co.uk

Bursaries

If you are applying to Wycliffe College and are concerned about the School fees, the School does offer the opportunity to apply for a Bursary. This is funding of up to 100% of the full fee (excluding any extras) provided by the School and is independently means-tested. Bursaries are awarded to pupils based on their performance in the School’s Entrance Examination. A significant number of pupils at Wycliffe College are able to attend the School as a result of receiving a means-tested Bursary. A pupil offered a Scholarship may also receive a Bursary to provide extra assistance with School fees. The School can reassess bursaries annually, or if there is a change in the parent’s financial circumstances. The requirement for additional bursarial support or financial assistance should be requested via the Director of Finance & Operations.

Pupils develop an excellent understanding of how to improve their learning and performance, so that they are well-prepared for the next stage of their lives and face it with a calm assuredness.
