We have a long tradition of supporting the families and children of those serving in the British Armed Forces. A third of our boarders are from Forces Families and many start in the Prep School from Year 3 (our youngest boarders) and stay with us right up to Year 13 in the Senior School.
During our Military Families Open Morning, you will have the chance to meet with some of our forces parents and ask them questions about Wycliffe that only a parent can answer, chat to our House Parents about the home from home environment we create in our boarding houses and tour the school campus.
Lots of Forces Boarders and a few from abroad…Weekends great fun and, though Boarders are allowed out, there tends to be an inflow of Day pupils staying for special activities rather than a general exodus.
My family has generations of Ghurkas in the British and Indian Army from both sides of my parents. [Nepal] is where my Dad grew up, walking four hours to school every day before succeeding in becoming a Ghurka. My parents constantly remind me that some people have more difficult lives and that I should always be grateful for what I have and the supportive group of people around me. The education I have received at Wycliffe has allowed me to think and help other people, whilst achieving my own goals. I volunteered in Nepal. I worked at Kathmandu Hospital to enhance my knowledge about the quality of healthcare that patients receive in less economically-developed countries. I hope to be a doctor and help aid people in crisis around the world.
Can’t make it to our open morning? Get in touch with us by emailing email@example.com and we will come back to you about making alternative arrangements so you can discover more about Wycliffe and our approach.
Located in Gloucestershire, Wycliffe is within easy reach of the major Army and RAF bases across the South West with excellent road transport links (we are only one mile from M5 Junction 13); a train station only 400 yards away (with a direct train to Paddington); and Heathrow, Bristol and Birmingham airports all easily accessible in under two hours.
Transport for day pupils
Wycliffe has a private fleet of minibuses that can pick up and drop off day pupils from bases that are within 45 minutes of school.
Based further afield?
If you are posted overseas or further afield in the UK we organise road transport at the beginning and of the holidays to any airport or UK location.
